Corruption from the party ruling in MBMC – Pratap Sarnaik
Geeta Jain, an independent MLA from Mira Bhayandar, spoke to reporters on Monday in a joint press conference with MLA and Shiv Sena spokesperson Pratap Sarnaik after officially joining the Shiv Sena on Saturday. Justifying her joining, Jain said that she joined Shiv Sena for the development of Mira Bhayandar.
“I have decided to join Shiv Sena for the development of Mira Bhayandar city. I will work under the leadership of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to speed up the pending development work of the twin city,” said Jain.
Jain said that she will try to give priority to pending issues like Solid Waste projects, Water shortage problems, Covering up of nullahs to control mosquitoes breeding, underground sewerage schemes, transport services, BSUP schemes, to curb corruption in Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation and fulfilment of the nine promises I made during the elections period.
“Bringing transparency in the tender process will be the main objective. However, in the last one year, corruptions have come down and prices of tenders have reduced by 16 to 18 per cent. Nevertheless, Shiv Sena’s saffron flag will be flown on MBMC in the next municipal elections,” said Geeta Jain.
Corruption from the party ruling in MBMC – Pratap Sarnaik
MLAs Pratap Sarnaik and Geeta Jain have accused BJP — the ruling party in MBMC – for the corruption here. Sarnaik and Jain held a joint press conference and made several serious allegations against ‘the ruling party’ without naming BJP.
“I have decided to rid of the MBMC from corruption. BJP is in power at Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation for the last three years. The people here voted for the BJP, but the party has betrayed the people,” said Sarnaik.
“Independent MLA Geeta Jain has joined the Shiv Sena. Her joining the party would strength the Sena in future. Our party will control the MBMC in the next Municipal Corporation elections. MLA Geeta Jain and I will work together as siblings for the development of this twin city and will make MBMC corruption-free,” said MLA Sarnaik.
“We are not alleging as we are in opposition here. There are many examples of corruption here. Like BSUP, the tender had passed of Rs 127 crores. We brought down the tender by 16 per cent,” said Sarnaik.
When asked about Geeta Jain’s nine points manifesto to Sarnaik, he said, “Her manifesto is Shiv Sena’s manifesto for Mira Bhayandar and we will together fulfil her promises.”
