Former district president of Sharad Pawar led NCP’s Mira Bhayandar unit NCP, Mohan Patil has returned to his home party after resigning from the BJP. In the presence of Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad, Patil accepted the membership of NCP.
Patil was considered as a staunch supporter of former MLA Gilbert Mendonca. However, when Mendonca joined Shiv Sena he became loyal to former Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and the then MP and Naik’s son Sanjeev. Mohan Patil, who was the district president of the NCP, had joined the BJP along with his supporters before the municipal elections of 2017.
Narendra Mehta, the then BJP MLA, supported him at the beginning. Patil’s one of the relative has also been elected as the BJP’s corporator from Ward No. 12. Patil is considered as Mehta’s political mentor. However, due to some differences between Patil and Mehta, Patil was isolated. Meanwhile, a dispute between office-bearers of Abhinav Education Society, Mohan Patil’s name appeared in an FIR. However, the issue of Abhinav has been settled.
Patil met Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad last week. During this visit, after discussing the politics of the twin city, Patil decided to return home. Awhad welcomes Patil to the party.
Last month, Arun Kadam a former Vice President has left the Shiv Sena and joined the NCP in the presence of Awhad. Kadam was also earlier a member of the NCP.
