Workers of the CPI(M), AAP and NGO like Drop Dead, Haq Hai held a protest near Mira Road Railway Station.
Even though the farmer leaders said that no one should be forced to join their call for Bharat Bandh, there was mixed response seen in Mira Bhayandar to a nationwide strike on Tuesday. All the opposition parties in the centre have participated in the ‘Bharat Bandh’.
The impact in some parts of the twin city has seen, especially in non-BJP pockets. The bandh was seen success in areas like Naya Nagar, Shanti Park, Shanti Nagar and Kashimira areas of Mira Road.
People from other parts especially Poonam Sagar, Kanakia, Goddev Naka and Bhayandar West have joined in the farmers’ agitation. However, Phatak Road in Bhayandar East and Bavan Jinalaya in Bhayandar West have not affected by the bandh.
Shiv Sena leaders have blocked key roads like Mumbai Ahmedabad National Highway NH8 and done the ‘chakka jam’ protest from 11 AM to 3 PM. The bandh has been called against Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020, all of which were passed by Parliament recently.
Congress party members, including Adv. S A Khan, Deep Kakade, Saheblal Yadav, Faizullaha Shaikh along with others protested against the farm laws in Mira Bhayandar. Though, the farmer leaders said that no one should be forced to join their call for Bharat Bandh. Congress workers appealed shopkeepers to shut down their shutters.
Youth Congress claimed that more than one hundreds its activists were detained by the Navghar Police for protesting. However, Sampatrao Patil, Sr. PI, confirmed that they had detained only 12 Congress members who were closing the shops.
Other parties’ involvement
Workers of the CPI(M), AAP and NGO like Drop Dead, Haq Hai held a protest near Mira Road Railway Station. They were also demanding the centre to withdraw the ‘Black’ Farm Laws. CPI(M) staged bike rally to ensure shops should remain closed till 3 PM.
Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) and other BAMCEF parties also protested in the twin city.
Various social, religions and cultural organisations protest in their ways in Mira Bhayandar. Markets in Naya Nagar, Station Road and other areas remained closed.
Members of Singh Sabha Gurudwara Committee in association with Sikh Welfare Association and Ekonkar Foundation show solidarity with farmers. They protested near Vardhman Fantasy at Shivar Garden on Mira Bhayandar Road.
