The orchestras, bars, hotels and lodges organization the Kashimira Hospitality and Entertainment has sought permission to continue the bar and hotel in Mira Bhayandar till midnight. However, on Thursday evening, the Municipal Commissioner issued an order allowing hotels, bars and food courts from 08 AM to 10 PM with 50 per cent capacity.
In a letter to MBMC Commissioner Dr Vijay Rathod, Uday Shetty, secretary of the association has demanded to extend the timing of the bar-hotel till mid-night. Initially, the timing was till 7 pm. “We have brought back the staff those who went to the village due to the lockdown amid COVID-19 pandemic. However, if the hotel has a deadline till evening, the business will go into further financial crisis,” said Shetty.
Many hoteliers did not start their hotels due to less timing. The municipal corporation has now issued an order and extended the timing till 10 pm, on Thursday.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s Anu Patil has demanded that the orchestra bar should not be allowed during the COVID-19 era. However, she said that the bar-hotel should not allow until midnight. She said, “Allowing the bar till mid-night will tantamount to encouraging malpractice. This will blemish the ‘law and order’ like earlier.”
Meanwhile, Commissioner Rathod has issued an order allowing hotels, food courts, restaurants and bars to continue from 8 am to 10 pm. “Bars and hotels in the containment zone will remain closed. They have permission to do the business with 50 per cent capacity. Police will book the violators under Sections 51 to 60 of Disaster Management Act, 2005, Epidemic Control Act, 1897. Police will take action under section 188 of IPC, 1860,” said Dr Vijay Rathod.
