MBMC and Geeta Jain have demanded to supply 1.5 million litres of water per day (MLD) from the BMC quota. “A meeting was held with Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil to review the matter. He gave these instructions in this meeting,” said MLA Geeta Jain.

Everything has been done

“BMC has given the approval to supply 1.5 MLD water to MBMC on January 22, 2014. Even, MBMC has completed the work of pipelines from Dahisar Check Naka to MHADA Complex under the supervision of the R/North Division engineer. The interconnection of the MBMC pipeline and BMC’s mainline has been completed and fees were paid. A water meter was also installed in the work area. However, water supply has not started yet,” complained MLA Geeta Jain to Mr. Patil.

“The channel must be inspected. Also, some technical work needs to be done. Therefore, it will take some time to start water supply, it was informed in the meeting. Mr. Patil instructed the concerned officer to take necessary measures to rectify it. After checking the technical matters, appropriate action should be taken, said Mira Bhayandar MLA.

Water Resources Minister Mr. Jayant Patil had been following up on the matter for the last several months. In this regard, the Minister had called a meeting on Wednesday in his chamber. Water should be released and a meeting should be arranged again in seven days with a permanent settlement. Mr. Patil instructed the concerned officers.

Along with Mr. Patil and Mrs. Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Bhushan Gagrani, Secretary Vilas Rajput, BMC’s Deputy Commissioner B. M. Rathod, and BMC’s Water Engineer Sanjay Aite attended the meeting.
