Minor fire breaks out on Mira Road station, no casualties reported

A minor fire broke out on the Mira Road railway station’s skywalk on Friday evening. However, no casualties reported in the incident. However, the fire has damaged the mobile signal tower, install on the skywalk.

“Prima facie, it seems that fire broke out from the power panel machine install for supporting the mobile tower. The electrical short circuit may have triggered the fire,” said the fire brigade officer.

Fire has damaged the plastic-covered ceiling and some iron shed.

After receiving the call, three fire tenders dispatched to the incident spot from the Silver Park sub-station of Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC). Within some time, the fire-fighter successfully doused the flames. No casualties or injuries have been reported. However, an eyewitness said that they see black smoke coming out from the skywalk. “When I alighted from the local train at around 6:30 pm, people were panicked. Black smoke has covered the station. The fire was broke out above the platform no. 4 skywalk on the southern end,” said Istiyaque Hussain, a banker.
