Guv e-inaugurates New COVID-19 Testing Lab at Bhaktivedanta Hospital, praises MLA Geeta Jain

A new COVID-19 testing lab at Bhaktivedanta Hospital in Mira Road was e-inaugurated by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari from the Raj Bhavan on Thursday. In his address after the inauguration, the first citizen of the state praises MLA Geeta Jain for her efforts.

The prevalence of coronavirus continues to spread in Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar and Palghar area. “Bhaktivedanta Hospital has set up the testing facility at the molecular laboratory. Not only Mira-Bhayandar, but municipal corporations such as Palghar and Virar-Vasai will also be benefitted by this facility. The travelling time for the swab samples of the suspect patients will reduce significantly. This will help in early detection of the virus,” said Ajay Sankhe, Director and CEO of Bhaktivedanta Hospital.

Governor congratulated the Bhaktivedanta Hospital for providing better healthcare at affordable rates to the society. The first citizen has asked the hospital to give ‘motherly affection to patients and set an example of ‘selfless service’. “Serve the people with love and compassion,” said Mr Koshiyari.

With the director, the chairman of the hospital Hrishikesh Mafatlal was also present at the Raj Bhavan. “Bhaktivedanta Hospital has always given priority to the patient care,” said Mr Mafatlal.

Mayor Jyotsana Hasnale, MLA Geeta Jain, doctors, staff and social workers attended the e-inauguration function through the video conferencing.

While addressing after the e-inauguration, Mr Bhagat Singh Koshiyari praises the legislator Geeta Jain. He said, “Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha mein, Geeta Jain ‘kaamdar Aamdar’ hai.” (Geeta Jain is a hardworking legislator in Maharashtra Assembly).

Dr Sankhe’s achievements

Doctor Ajay Sankhe said, “We stand by our commitment to make the facility available for all the patients. We will provide unconditional service in fighting the deadly disease. Nevertheless, Bhaktivedanta Hospital is always ready to serve the nation. Surely, our vision is to be a trusted healthcare partner enabling healthier lives.”

Dr Sankhe helped the MBMC to set-up ICU and ventilator facilities in government-run Pandit Bhimsen Joshi COVID Hospital in record time. Significantly, he set-up the facilities within 15 days amid lockdown. Ironically, it was the need of the hours.

ICMR permits in June

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved a COVID-19 testing lab at Bhaktivedanta Hospital in the month of June. The lab is equipped to process 500 tests daily. However, it can be scaled up to 1000 tests and follows the pricing as per ICMR guidelines. Hospital’s lab will be closely working with local hospitals and Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) to test suspected coronavirus infections in the region.
