Two cases of rape of minor girls have been reported in Mira Road and Bhayander. Police have arrested the accused in both incidents. Both the accused have been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences POCSO Act, 2012 along with sections of IPC.
A 15-year-old minor girl was raped at Mira Road area. Anil Jaitley (51) forcefully raped her while she was alone at home on February 03. The accused, Jaitley is known to the victim. After she narrated the incident to the family, the victim’s parents registered a complaint to the Mira Road Police Station and Anil Jaitley was arrested by the police on Friday.
Another incident took place at Bhayandar West. An 8-year-old minor was raped here. While she was playing, the accused Umashankar Gupta (43), a vegetable dealer, shown chocolate packet and called her nearer to him and raped her. The injured girl has been taken to Nair Hospital, where she is serious. Gupta has been arrested by the Bhayander Police on Thursday.
“In both these cases, the accused have been arrested on charges of rape, as well as Pocso Act 2012,” informed Sandeep Kadam, Senior Police Inspector, Mira Road Police Station.
