The Crime Branch unit 1 of Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police have arrested two persons and seized 350 grams of mephedrone drugs, popularly known as Meow Meow or MD from their possession near Delta Garden area of Mira Road.
Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch Unit, led by Police Inspector Jitendra Wahankoti and API Pravin Swami intercepted two suspicious, who were on a scooter, from the Delta Garden area of Kashimira on Monday evening.
Police has seized around 350 gms of mephedrone drugs (Meow Meow) worth Rs 35 lakhs from the duo. They were identified as Nazir Maqsood Shaikh (20) and Abdul Parvez Alam Shaikh (19). They both are residents of Golibar area in Santacruz. The police have also seized the bike, mobile phones and cash amounting Rs 57,300 from their possession.
Police has booked them under sections 8 (C) and 21 (C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
However, Kashimira Police has registered the case. Further investigation is on and will be probe by API Yogesh Deshmukh.
The police are investigating from where they got the banned contraband. We are also finding out to whom they intended to sell it, said Wahankoti.
Due to the recent crackdown by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) major players indulged in drug trafficking have allegedly gone underground.
