Toddler raped in bus, thrown in gunny bag; Driver arrested

Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar police has arrested the bus driver who raped the four-year-old toddler and thrown her in the unconscious state in a gunny bag near Vasai on Sunday evening.

“Police found the girl in a gunny bag and took her for a medical examination where it has been revealed that she was sexually assaulted,” said Vilas Chougle, Senior PI, Valiv Police Station.

Police has arrested the driver of the bus in this connection, said Dr Shashikant Bhosle, ACP, Bhayandar Range.

How the girl found?

Some locals spotted the gunny bag in the Fatherwadi locality of Vasai on Sunday and alerted the Police.

“The Mira-Bhayandar Vasai-Virar Police rushed to the spot and found the girl unconscious inside the bag,” Bhosle said.

“Doctors conducted the medical examination of the child and confirmed the sexual assault on her,” he added.

Case transferred to Bhayandar Police

Here Bhayandar Police received a complaint from the parents that their daughter had gone missing. They said she was playing inside a luxury bus which was parked near their house in Bhola Nagar, Bhayandar.

Later, Valiv police messages to various Police stations and it was found that a case of the kidnapping of a girl had been registered at the Bhayandar Police Station.

“Subsequently, the girl and case handed over to Bhayandar Police,” said Chougle.

Police zeroed on driver

However, the police team zeroed on the bus driver behind the mysterious disappearance of the girl. “Police team arrested the 34-year-old driver from the Manikpur area of Vasai. After interrogation, the driver confessed to the crime,” said Dr Bhosle.

Driver, a resident of Santacruz, tried to strangulate the girl. After that, he squeezed the unconscious girl into a sack and had dumped her at an isolated spot in Valiv PS limits. Luckily, she is still alive. Nevertheless, she has been admitted to Nair Hospital where her treatment is going on. However, her condition is stable.
