Naya Nagar Police Station in Mira Road has registered a case against the husband for sending texts Talaq, Talaq, Talaq and divorcing illegally to his wife on WhatsApp under the stringent Triple Talaq Act.
The couple had done love marriage in August 2014. Parents were against the wedding. However, the couple have a five-year-old daughter. Though, they were in wedlock the couple had been staying separately with their respective parents for the past several years. However, they met each other in frequent interval of time.
In her complaint, the victim alleged that despite her unwillingness, her husband forced her on him. On several occasions, accompanied her to local lodges. However, when the victim rejected to escort him, during the lockdown, the accused husband sent her a message on her WhatsApp texts stating Talaq, Talaq, Talaq. After that, she approached and registered a complaint with the Naya Nagar Police Station.
Earlier also her husband had committed the same type of crime, alleged a wife. However, later he apologized and settled the matter. Based on the complaint registered by the woman the police registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the IPC including 498A and section 4 of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) (Triple Talaq) Act.
