A speeding tanker on the Western Express Highway hits the police personnel attached to the Bhayandar Police Station while he was on his way home after duty on Wednesday. He died in the wee hours of Friday in the hospital.
A 57-year-old Assistance Sub Inspector(ASI) attached to the Bhayandar Police Station, was on his way to home Kasarwadvali at around 9:30 pm. When Ashok Kashinath Patil reached near Pali Village Hotel on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway, a speeding tanker hit his bike. He lost control of his bike and falls on the road. Patil sustained serious head injuries. He was admitted to the private Orbit Hospital at Kashimira, Mira Road on Wednesday.
However, after his condition deteriorated there he then shifted to Wockhardt Hospital on Thursday.
Unfortunately, Patil succumbed to injuries at 00.55 am on Friday, while undergoing treatment. Colleagues remember him as one of the disciplined and cooperative officers at the police station. He was on the verge of retirement this year-end.
Kashimira Police has registered a case under section 304 (a) (causing death by negligence). Police have also booked the driver Devendra Kumar Saheblal Yadav under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act. Police have arrested Yadav from the Kaju Pada area, where he is residing.
Pankaj Kilje (PSI) from the Kashimira police station is the probing officer and further investigates the incident.
