While inaugurating the new Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police Commissionerate through video conferencing Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said the incident like Hathras will not be tolerated in Maharashtra. Addressing a police force, CM Uddhav Thackeray said that a message should be sent out so that nobody could dare to commit such crime against women in the state.
“What happened in Uttar Pradesh will not be tolerated in Maharashtra. Stern action should be taken against those indulging in the crimes against women,” Thackeray said, adding
He was speaking at the virtual inauguration of the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai and Virar police commissionerate. The CM added that police should crack down on hooligans. There should be fear about police among those indulging in such acts.
The chief minister had in July-August announced the formation of MBVV police commissionerate with IPS officer Sadanand Date appointed as the first commissioner. Date received the President’s medal for bravery during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. Another IPS officer S. Jayakumar has been appointed as the additional commissioner. MBVV Commissionerate curated from Thane Rural Police and Palghar Police.
“Our police are a top force and people of this state have undisputed faith in them. Rumour mongering should not be a cause of worry,” said CM Uddhav Thackeray.
“I am confident that he will not only lay a solid foundation for the elevated policing apparatus but will shoulder the responsibility of implementing law and order with grit. Though the commissionerate will command the Mira-Bhayandar and Vasai-Virar belt as its jurisdiction, goons and criminals in adjoining areas like- Mumbai and Thane who may seek shelter there should also be on the radar.” Thackeray said.

Sadanand Date said the commissionerate will do its best in maintaining law and order in the areas.
“The government has reposed its faith in me and I along with my team will ensure that we shoulder our duties with honesty, commitment and responsibility. Our priorities will be to enhance the policing,” said Date.
