The Thane Sessions Court has awarded life imprisonment to a man on Monday for kidnapping, sexually assaulting and murdering a 4-year-old girl. However, his two partners in crime received four-year rigorous imprisonment each. The court charged them of helping the main culprit for hiding the evidence and body.
The main convicted Mohammad Yunus alias Jhiru Haji Mohammad Bashir Shah (27) awarded the life imprisonment and Rs 7000 fine. The two others were identified as Mohammad Rozan alias Langda Ishakraini (33) and Jitendra alias Jitu Tirathprasad Rao (35). The Court has awarded 4 years rigorous imprisonment to the duo with Rs. 3000 fine. They all were working as porters in the Azad Nagar area of Bhayandar.
Ujjwala Moholkar, Additional Public Prosecutor asserted to the court that on January 09, 2017, the main accused Mohammad Yusuf called the four years old girl nearby showing her a bar of chocolate. Then, he kidnapped her and took her to a nearby slum.
There, the main accused sexually assaulted the girl and later murder her with cruelty. Then, the other two helped the Yusuf in digging a pit and burying the body, added Moholkar.
Based on the circumstantial and medical evidence, District and Sessions Judge H M Patwardhan held the trio guilty. The court charged Mohammad Yunus under sections 363, 364, 376 (1) and 302 of IPC. He was also found guilty under section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. While the court found the duo guilty under section 201 of the IPC.
Navghar Police had registered the crime on January 09, 2017, under case no. 07/2017. However, Police Inspector Shrikant Padule investigated the case while the constable Aswale (476) presented the case before the court.
