An on-duty Head Constable Sakharam Bhoye (41) allegedly killed himself inside the Police Inspector’s cabin at Tulinj Police Station in Nalasopara East on Thursday early morning. He was deployed at the same police station from last four years.
41-year-old Bhoye was on his night duty. He shot himself in the head with his 9mm service pistol inside the cabin of a police inspector at around 8:30 am, said the official.
Hearing the gunshot, other police officials rushed to the PI cabin and found him in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors declared him dead on arrival.
After the incident, senior police officials reached Tulinj Police Station.
“Between 8 am and 9 am, police Head Constable Sakharam Bhoye shot himself with his 9mm service pistol. An Accidental Death Report has been registered and the investigation to find out the reason behind the suicide is on,” said Sanjay Patil, DCP Zone 3, MBVV Police.
He is survived by his wife and 12-year-old son. The family has been informed and they have reached the hospital.
The reason for taking an extreme step is ascertained yet. However, sources at the police station said that Bhoye was whirling under job pressure.
Police has registered the ADR case under section 174 of CrPC. Assistance Commissioner of Police, Tulinj Range; Amol Mandve is probing the case. Police has taken the body in its possession and sent for the autopsy.
