Friendship on Facebook has paid a huge prize to a woman in her thirties. A woman residing at Bhayandar befriended with a man on Facebook. After that, the two fell in love. The accused then raped her and made a video of the act. Later, he started blackmailing her for the video on the pretext of making it viral on social media. So far, the accused has extorted 60 grams of gold jewellery from the 31 years old woman. Fed up with the usual harassment, the woman finally approached Gorai police and lodged the complaint against the accused. Police has registered a case of rape and extortion against the accused.
The complainant is a 31-year-old Bhayandar resident. The young woman, who was active on Facebook, met a 31-year-old man through Facebook. After the two started talking on social media, they exchanged their mobile numbers. After talking over the phone for a few days, the two started dating each other. They fell in love. The accused spiked her soft drink with drugs in their one meeting. Then he raped her and made a video on his mobile phone.
Later, the accused started demanding her for more such meeting and when she refused, he started threatening her. “He told her that if she will not listen to him then the accused will make the video viral on social media,” said Sanjeev Nagarkar, Sr. PI, Gorai Police Station.
He repeatedly demanded money from her. According to the complaint, so far the woman had given about 60 grams of gold worth Rs 3 lakh in market value as a prize for friendship on Facebook.
Accused booked under
The police has registered a case under sections 376 (Rape), 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence.), 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 67 (a) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
“Police has registered the case and investigating the matter further,” said Nagarkar.
