For the very first time, the new COVID-19 positive cases were crossed 150-mark and reported 162 cases at Mira-Bhayandar within 24 hours. These records new COVID-19 cases have spiked the number of positive cases (cumulative) to 2735 on Thursday. However, a sigh of relief is that 130 people have been recovered from Coronavirus infection and that’s too for the first time crossed a century mark.
Out of the records 162 new COVID-19 cases, Mira Road has reported 76 cases. Bhayandar West has reported 29 cases while Bhayandar East is having 57 positive cases, according to the official data given by the MBMC. This has raised more worries to the officials of Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. While 93 cases are closed contact of old positive patients, 69 have been newly discovered from different parts of the twin city. Five death cases are reported from Mira Bhayandar on Thursday which raised the death tally to 124.
The total number of positive cases in the municipal corporation area has gone up to 2735. While the people recovered from Coronavirus remains as high as 1580. There are 1031 active cases in the area at present.
On Thursday, 130 persons were discharged after treatment from hospitals. However, the recovery rate of the twin city has come up to 57.76 per cent from 56.35 on Wednesday. It is much higher than a country average of 50 per cent. Nevertheless, a doubling rate has become worst as 12 days as compared to 16 days earlier. However, the death rate has improved from six per cent to 4.5 per cent.
Over All Cases
Of the 7672 tests carried out by the MBMC so far, reports of 4171 persons came negative, while in 766 cases reports are still awaited. An area-wise distribution of the cases has revealed that Mira Road has a maximum 1323 cases followed by 761 cases in Bhayandar (east) and 651 cases in Bhayandar (west).The youngest among Thursday’s cases was a 1-year-old boy from Kasturi Garden in Bhayandar (West) who is suspected to have contracted the infection from one of her family members who had tested positive for the virus earlier. The oldest among them was a 92-year-old man residing in Vinayak Nagar area of Mira Road. He was a new positive case and MBMC is tracing from whom he has been infected.
Unlock 1.0, boon or bane?
Mira-Bhayandar has witnessed a spike in positive cases following the unlock 1.0 began from Saturday, June 06. MBMC had recorded a sudden hike in the number of cases. Mor than 2000 cases have been recorded in one month.
In the last four days, the positive cases found are 162, 92, 94 and 128.
Mission Begins again Phase IV
However, easing another set of curbs, the Maharashtra administration on Thursday allowed salons and beauty parlours to reopen starting June 28 in red zones such as Mumbai, but for select services. According to a notification, the entry will be with prior appointment. And only select services like haircuts, dyeing, waxing, threading will be allowed. Skin-related services are not permitted.
