For the very first time, the new COVID-19 positive cases were crossed 250-mark and reported 276 cases at Mira-Bhayandar within 24 hours. These records new COVID-19 cases have spiked the number of positive cases (cumulative) to 3885 on Friday. However, a sigh of relief is that 170 people have been recovered from Coronavirus infection. Good news is that MBMC is on a recovery path with more than 73 per cent recovery rate.
Out of the records 276 new COVID-19 cases, Mira Road has reported 144 cases. Bhayandar West has reported 33 cases while Bhayandar East is having 99 positive cases, according to the official data given by the MBMC. This has raised more worries to the officials of Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. While 170 cases are closed contact of old positive patients, 106 have been newly discovered from different parts of the twin city. Three death cases are reported from Mira Bhayandar on Friday which raised the death tally to 152.
The total number of positive cases in the municipal corporation area has gone up to 3885. While the people recovered from Coronavirus remains as high as 2818. There are 915 active cases in the area at present.
On Friday, a whopping 170 persons were discharged after treatment from hospitals. However, the recovery rate of the twin city has come up to 72.53 per cent. It is much higher than a country average of 55 per cent. Nevertheless, a doubling rate has become worst as 12 days as compared to 16 days earlier. However, the death rate has improved from six per cent to 3.9 per cent.
Over All Cases
Of the 12597 tests carried out by the MBMC so far, reports of 7079 persons came negative, while in 1633 cases reports are still awaited. An area-wise distribution of the cases has revealed that Mira Road has a maximum of 1802 cases followed by 1162 cases in Bhayandar (east) and 921 cases in Bhayandar (west). The oldest among COVID-19 infected on Friday was an 82-year-old female residing in Masyhacha Pada area of Kashimira. She was a closed contact of old infected case.
High profile Infectious
An Independent MLA and her husband are also infected with the disease. However, they are home quarantine. Chief Fire Officer (CFO) and three corporators are also found COVID positives and all are under doctors observations in the hospital or COVID Care Centre. However, one BJP corporator may get discharged in a day or two. Here, two BJP corporators are there and one Shiv Sena’s female corporator and her family members are there.
The MBMC Commissioner in his latest circular has ordered the complete lockdown till July 10.
