MBMC Chief extended Strict Lockdown till July 18 in Mira Bhayandar

The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) Commissioner in his latest circular has once again extended the strict lockdown till July 18 midnight.

According to the order by the new MBMC Commissioner, the status quo of the previous order will be maintained till next Saturday night. That is, all shops including groceries, meat, fruit & vegetable markets have been ordered completely shut till mid-night of July 18. Only medical stores, flour mills (atta chakki) and dairy have been allowed to remain open. Home delivery of essential services has been allowed between 9 AM to 11 PM.

MBMC has also stated that vehicles of essential service workers and goods will be allowed to move in and out of the area. Commissioner advised all people to remain indoors. MBMC has stated that anyone breaking the order will be punished under the Maharashtra COVID-19 Epidemic Act 2020, Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Epidemic Act 1897.

What will be closed

In an early order issued by the Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Rathod on June 30 letter number MBMC/Medical/888/2020-21, stated that all fish, mutton and chicken shops will be kept closed July 10 mid-night and same has extended till July 18. He also stated that Kirana, grocery shops, bakery including supermarket like D-Mart, Big Bazar, Star Bazar will also remain closed for the same period. In the same way, fruits and vegetable shops including special market set up by MBMC will also remain closed.

“However, home delivery of groceries, vegetables, bakery products will be allowed. If orders placed through MBMC Home Delivery app or on calls from MBMC provided numbers. The numbers have been circulated through social media in PDF format. The delivery will be allowed between 9 am to 11 pm only,” stated Commissioner Rathod in the order.

What will be opened

Medical Stores and dairy will remain open during the total lockdown period. However, maintaining social distancing is a must. Medical stores will remain open from 9 am to 9 pm. While dairy stores will remain from 5 am to 10 am. Nevertheless, medical stores inside the hospitals will remain open 24 hours. In case of emergency, one can buy the medicines from there.

Newspaper stalls will remain open from 7 am till 5 pm with maintaining physical distancing in this extended strict lockdown.
