A huge fire broke out at an open plot of Pleasant park area in Mira Road on Thursday evening, where illegal shops gutted out. The total area of the open plot is nine acres. Ironically, Municipal ward office is just stone throw away distance from the incident place. Here the question arises, how come the unauthorised shops have grown up on an open plot.
Incidentally, three shops had gutted at the same place last year. However, no precautionary measure or action has been taken by the municipal corporation. Luckily, timely action from the Fire Department ceased the fire before any major incident could happen. Chief Fire Officer along with five senior officers and 46 fire personnel were present at the incidental place.
“Firefighters used five fire fighting engines and eight water tankers to extinguish the huge fire. However, Fire gutted eight to 10 gallas before gaining control over the fire. However, Fire personnel saved the material of the shops,” said Prakash Borade, Chief Fire Officer, Mira Bhayandar.
