Diwali before Diwali: MBMC declares bonus for its employees

After the seventh pay commission notification, another good news coming for the employees from the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) headquarters, the corporation has declared Diwali bonus for its workers. The decision has taken in a meeting on Thursday under the chairmanship of Mayor Jyotsna Hasnale.

Both permanent and temporary employees will get the bonus this year. While the permanent employees will get Rs 22,470 each, temporary employees will grant Rs 17,302 each before Diwali.

Against the backdrop of Corona pandemic, the recovery of property tax at MBMC has been around 50 per cent till date. Therefore, the municipal administration has allocated a large number of funds focusing on the equipment required to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. Therefore, there were gossiping in the municipal circles regarding whether the employees will get bonuses this year on Diwali or not.

Pandemic has made the financial position of the corporation fragile. “However, in the interest of the employees, at least, they should get bonuses what they received last year,” proposed Prashant Dalvi, Leader of the House.

Mayor Jyotsna Hasnale unanimously accepted the proposal and announced the bonus.

“Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation has 1889 officers, staff and temporary employees. A grant of Rs 3.62 crores has been sanctioned to these employees this year. Rs 3.67 crores bonuses had sanctioned to these employees, last year. This year, cumulative bonuses sanctioned for the primary teachers and school staff is Rs. 38 lakh 45 thousand. There is an atmosphere of excitement among the employees. All the employees will get the bonus amount before Diwali,” said Mayor Jyotsana Hasnale.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Dr Vijay Rathod, Deputy Mayor Hasmukh Gehlot, Standing Committee Chairman Ashok Tiwari, Leader of the House Prashant Dalvi, Leader of Opposition Pravin Patil, Additional Commissioner Dilip Dhole, Deputy Commissioner Ajit Muthe, Chief Auditor Digvijay Chavan, Chief Accountant Sharad Belwate and Establishment Superintendent Sunil Yadav.

Get relief on property tax interest

Against the backdrop of the corona, public life has not yet begun smoothly. People lost their jobs. Work from home continues today. Therefore, as the financial condition of the people is fragile, the citizens should get an extension till the end of December to pay the property tax, said Deputy Commissioner Hasmukh Gehlot.

Vijay Rathod immediately released an order for the relief on the interest of the property tax. In order, he said, “This year, property tax bill reached to people very late due to Corona Pandemic. So, we are extending the tax due date by one month for the tax of 2020-21. For part 1 the due date extended to 30th November. However, for part 2 the last date will be 31st December without interest.”
