Production Union pays tribute to art director Raju Sapte, demands CBI inquiry

A month after the suicide of the art director, members of the Production Union paid tributes to Raju Sapte at the main gate of the Film City. After paying the homage the members demanded a CBI investigation for the abetment of the suicide case.

Before committing suicide, Sapte had released a video in which he said about being tortured by the film fraternity. A month later, he committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling.

Though police have arrested three people, however, many are still absconding. Police have registered a case against Naresh Vishwakarma, Gangeshwar Srivastava, Rakesh Maurya, Chandan Thackeray, and Ashok Dubey.

Production Union stands alone and fighting for justice for the art director.

A CBI inquiry demanded

Production Union member Rohit Gupta said, “The Maharashtra government should take this matter seriously and set –up a CBI inquiry. If prestigious investigation agency probes the case then more secrets of the industry will come out in open.”

Many unions are working in the film industry. However, these unions also harassed artists instead of giving justice to them. The main task of the union is to help people get justice. However, under the guise of fighting for the artists’ rights; many unions work just for making money. Union’s members threatening people to extort money.  And, innocent people like Raju Sapte have to pay the price by killing themselves.

I will die fighting but never commits suicide

Other Production Union member Kunal Thakur while paying homage to Raju Sapte said, “I have full faith in law and justice system. Justice will prevail to my friend. Those abated him for suicide will have to go behind the bars.”

Kiran Shahi and Ravi Dhavande have also demanded a CBI inquiry with the earliest arrest of the absconding accused.

The film industry has deeply shocked by Raju Sapte’s suicide episode. This has also unveiled the face of the union’s office-bearers.

Following the Covid-19 guidelines, everyone put their views on the organizing committee. The tribute program was attended by Kiran Shahi, Rohit Gupta, Kunal Thakur, Ravi Dhavande, Praveen Bahandolkar, Amit Chandra, Arif Sheikh, Ajit Singh, Rajendra Upadhyay, and other officials were also present at the event.
