Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council Praveen Darekar has accused that the state government failed to provide rations and food to the migrant labourers. That’s the reason, why they started moving to their natives. He also alleged that the ‘Thackeray Sarkar’ has not made any proper arrangements for them to migrate. However, despite the Centre’s delay in releasing the Shramik special trains, he backed the central government, saying the trains were released with the coronavirus contingency in mind.
On Saturday, Praveen Darekar was here to participate in a meeting held in Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation headquarters. He also reviewed the arrangement done by the MBMC to cease the corona infection in Mira Bhayandar. Darekar held a meeting with Mayor Jyotsna Hasnale, Deputy Mayor Hasmukh Gehlot, MBMC Commissioner IAS Chandrakant Dange, Standing Committee Chairman Ashok Tiwari, Leader of the House Rohidas Patil, ruling BJP District President Hemant Mhatre, BJP Corporator Dhruvkishor Patil, Divisional President Manoj Dubey and other municipal officials were present there. He also inspected the COVID-19 Hospital and Isolation Center.
Speaking to reporters, Praveen Darekar said, “There is no coordination between the state government and the administration. In this pandemic period, there is chaos everywhere. We have given more than two hundred suggestion through letters to the government regarding Coronavirus. However, the authorities have not implemented it.
Not doing anything for the son of the soil
On the humanitarian ground, giving free ST services to migrants labours are good, but what about the Bhumiputras of the state, questioned Leader of Opposition.
Darekar further said, “As soon as you (Uddhav Thackeray) came to power, you forgotten the Bhumiputras (son of the soil). First, we asked for free ST buses for Konkan residents. What happened to that? They are walking towards Konkan as you failed to provide them with buses.”
However, he said that Transport Minister Anil Parab had arranged buses and set up the portal also. “But, there is a discrepancy within the government. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has raised the financial issue,” Praveen Darekar said.
He clarified that the BJP’s agitation was neither for the removal of the Chief Minister nor for the implementation of the President’s rule. It was to rectify the flaws in the system of governance. “There is corruption in the whole mismanagement and we will raise the issue in Legislative Council about this corruption in the Corona subdivision during the convention,” said Chief of Mumbai Bank.
Misinformation to LoP
BJP is in power MBMC and 454 COVID-19 positive patients were there till Saturday afternoon whereas 12 had died. However, Darekar said that the situation is under control in Mira Bhayandar.
Praveen Darekar was unaware about the 12 victims have died due to COVID-19 here. He was under the presumption that only four people have been died due to Coronavirus infection. On the other hand, Darekar also said that the District Collector Rajesh Narvekar never visited the MBMC and haven’t held any meeting here. However, he was not informed by the local BJP’s representatives. The Collector had visited twice in the MBMC headquarters, since lockdown.
