NCP cooked chapatis on street to protest against price hike of domestic LPG cylinder

Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Mira Bhayandar unit protest against the Narendra Modi-led central government for hiking the price of the domestic LPG cylinder, near Bhayandar Phatak on Monday noon. Members of the party under the leadership of its Mira-Bhayandar unit president Santosh Pendurkar raised the slogans and protested against the central government.

In a unique protest, women members of the party lit the old customs earthen stove and prepared chapatis in it on the street.  To protest against the central government, party members have started gathering at the venue since morning. “You can see the anger against the central government in the public against the price hike of LPG cylinder,” said Pendurkar.

However, heavy police bandobast from Navghar and Mira Road Police were seen to avoid any untoward incident at the event. Police also did the videography on the protest spot for evidence purpose.

“The Coronavirus pandemic amid lockdown has made the lives of the general public very difficult. People’s business has dismantled and the budget has been scattered. Raising the prices of domestic LPG cylinder at this point of time will make a hole in the pocket of the people,” said Pendurkar.

“We demand that the hiked gas prices should immediately be rolled back. LPG cylinder now comes under essential things, so it should not be out of the reach of common man,” said Prem Yadav, spokesperson, NCP.

On the occasion, NCP women wing Pune’s in-charge Pournima Katkar has also marked her presence in the protest.
