Congress observes “Shaheedon ko Salam Divas”, pays tribute to Galwan Valley martyrs

Members from Mira Bhayandar City/District Congress Committee in association with its various wings/cells paid tribute to the 20 Indian soldiers who laid their supreme sacrifice in an attack by the Chinese intruders at the Galwan Valley in Ladakh near Indo-China border.  The homage prayer was held at Shaheed Major Kaustubh Rane Chowk, near Mira Road Railway Station on Friday. Congress party has observed it as “Shaheedon ko Salam Divas”.

Through this programme, the party salute the poster of twenty brave soldiers for their supreme sacrifice and reiterates our unwavering solidarity to Indian Armed Forces across the country and supporting them in defending the Nation.

The programme started with the lighting of candles at the Shaheed Smarak and paid tribute to the brave martyrs by the rank & files of the party. As a mark of respect to the departed great souls, two minutes of silence was observed. Patriotic slogans like “Bharat Mata ki Jay”, “Vande Mataram” were chant by the members of the Congress Party there.

What They Say

Paying homage to the martyrs, Mira Bhayandar Congress President Ankush Malusare said, “We observes this day as Shaheedon ko Salam Divas. We must pay our respects to the martyrs. Modi had made a statement that their sacrifice should not be let to go in vain; hence, he should reveal the truth behind the attack. 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives in the hands of the Chinese army.”

“Why our soldiers killed? It is condemnable. The whole of India is standing in solidarity with their families and Government. However, Prime Minister Modi should clarify the reason behind the violent attack,” Malusare said.

She said that PMO’s statement is a lame attempt to obfuscate the truth. She demanded that PMO and the Government need to clearly state their position on the Galwan Valley. Is that valley not part of India territory? Why is Government not coming forward and strongly rebutting the Chinese claim over Galwan Valley? If Chinese troops are present there, does it not amount to intrusion into and occupation of Indian territory?

Mrs D’Sa revealed that the Shaheed Major (Gallantry) Kaustubh Rane was her student in the Junior College at Mira Road. However, Shaheed Rane’s father has also attended the programme.
