Actor’s leg amputated due to high diabetes at Bhaktivedanta Hospital

A popular actor’s leg was amputated due to high diabetes in a life-saving surgery at the Bhaktivedanta Hospital in Mira Road. Lack of work and money has kept him postponing the treatment due to which the situation worsens. He developed small corn in his leg.

The Lokendra Singh Rajawat (50) – a popular TV actor who shared the screen with Hrithik Roshan in Jodhaa Akbar has gone through life-saving surgery where his right leg was amputated last week due to high diabetics.  His stress levels have shot up which raised his blood sugar beyond dangerous limits.

In a long 5 hours surgery conducted at Mira Road’s Bhaktivedanta Hospital, doctors have amputated his leg.

He shared that he was working well before the COVID-19 pandemic but faced a financial crunch at home when the shooting came to a complete halt last year. Lokendra Singh narrated his ordeal and shared that it all began when he developed corn in his right foot and neglected it.

Singh said, “It all began when I developed an ear of corn in my right foot and I neglected it. It became an infection that penetrated the bone and spread in my body. Later, it developed gangrene. The only way to save me was to get the corned leg amputated till the knee.”

He further added, “I wish I had taken care when my diabetes began about 10 years ago. We actors often have no fixed timings when shooting and our erratic hours of lunch and work harm our health. Add this to the stress. All this leads to diabetes and not if you are fond of sweets.”

Actor’s work

Lokendra Singh Rajawat has also been a part of TV shows such as CID and Crime Patrol among others. He has also worked in movies like Ranbir Kapoor’s starring ‘Jagga Jasoos’ and ‘Malaal’ which featured Meezaan Jaffrey.

Not losing hope, Lokendra plans to use an artificial leg. “But the wound has to heal first. The artificial leg will come in only later,” Lokendra concluded.
