The Bhayandar police have arrested a ‘buyer’ from the Charkop area of Kandivali, who spiked the real estate agent ’s drink at Vasai Dhaba on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway and decamp with his valuables and cash.
The accused identified as Abhishek Agarwal met the Shashikant Meherwad (50) at his Bhayandar office on July 28. He has shown interest in purchasing land in Bhayandar or Vasai. Agarwal told that he had a budget of Rs 3.5 crore for the real estate agent.
Meherwad has shown him some land pieces in Uttan and the coastal area. However, he desires to show lands on National Highway near Vasai and Pelhar. To see the prime location on the highway, they met in the evening again and drove in the agent’s car. The accused bought liquor and stayed at the Dhaba, on the pretext of ‘pet puja’.
“When Meherwad and Agarwal stopped, the accused went to order food while the agent went to the toilet. Meanwhile, the accused had poured the liquor in two glasses. When the agent returned he offered him one,” said the officer at the Bhayandar Police Station.
Soon after, the agent fainted and becomes unconscious. “He found himself in a hospital after regaining consciousness there. The accused had decamped with Rs 26,000 cash, with his gold chain, finger ring and his mobile phone,” said a police officer.
After discharge, the agent filed a complaint and his statement was recorded on July 31. Police registered a case under Sections 328 and 379 of the IPC. Police have arrested the accused from the Charkop area of Kandivali, informed the officer.
