Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar police has busted a high profile sex racket running in the village area in which TV actress and models were involved. Police has arrested two women whereas four models were rescued on Wednesday.
The two women accused of flesh trading were identified as Pinky Dubey (29) and Arpita Goshal (31). They belonged to the Goregaon and Kalyan area respectively. Amit Kale, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone -1 said that the police had received a tip-off about the high profile sex racket and its perpetrators. Acting on this, the police set up a trap and raided a bungalow in Dhavi Donger village in Uttan.
Police rescued four actresses and models, however, concealed their identities quoting the laws. According to a police official, the accused have been charged under sections 370, 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Police also slapped sections 4 and 5 of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).
According to section 370, “Whoever imports, exports, removes, buys, sells or disposes of any person as a slave, or accepts, receives or detains against his will any person as a slave, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine.”
Though the place falls under Uttan Police limits, Senior Inspector from Naya Nagar Kailash Barve and his team conducted the raid. This was done on the instruction of DCP Amit Kale. However, according to the sources, Chandrakant Jadhav, Sr. PI, Bhayandar Police Station probing the case further.
Cases of Human Trafficking
According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) Report of 2020, every day about 105 women go missing in Maharashtra. The report also showed the highest cases of human trafficking and missing women in Maharashtra. About 17 women are forced into flesh trading every week. The states that followed Maharashtra are Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal.
