The Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar police on Wednesday acted against and booked manager, owner of Shark Club Restaurant and Bars and party organiser at Kashimira Police Station.
The police booked them in the wee hours of the morning on Wednesday. The police came to know about the party organised in Shark Club, Restaurant and Bars. The club situated at Tarasingh Compound, Penkarpada in Mira Road.
Those booked comprise of Vishnu, party organiser; Sunny Raina, Hotel Manager; and owner. However, cops have not arrested anyone in the case.
The complainant in the case is Constable Paresh Vishwanath Patil while API Mahendra Bhamre is probing officer in the case. Shark Restaurant and Bar is a franchisee of R Happy Brewing Company.
According to sources, the hotel belongs to one of the corporators in Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. The corporator owns many hotels, bar and restaurants in the twin city. However, most of the hotels owned by him are illegal.
Police booked the accused under section 11 of Maharashtra COVID-19 Resolution Act 2020, under section 2, 3, 4 of Epidemic Control Act, 1897 and sections 188, 269,270 and 34 of IPC.
In the unlock process, the state government has eased restrictions, however, restaurants and bars were allowed to operate at 50 per cent seating capacity from October 5. “However, the party which was organised between 2 pm – 4 pm on Sunday attended by many, which violates the COVID-19 norms. A four seconds video of the party has gone viral on social media on Monday afternoon. Nevertheless, this has prompted police to take action on the Shark Club, Restaurants and bars,” said the sources.
Violating the norms
The number of COVID-19 cases has reached 23828 with the addition of 66 new cases on Tuesday. However, the death toll increased to 753 with the addition of 01 cases.
Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, the civic body has urged everyone to wear the mask. However, those who don’t wear masks, MBMC started penalty on them.
