The alert Mira Road Police arrested a former maid within 12 hours of the incident, who robbed an entrepreneur’s apartment worth Rs. 7 Lakhs booty in Mira Road.
The maid left the job months before the incident. However, police said, she planned and robbed her former employer and she is a habitual offender. Tasleem Syed (28), an arrested accused, approached her ex-employer, the beauty salon owner, with a proposal of bringing clients in exchange for a commission.
Syed brought suspected woman as a potential customer who inquired about some beauty treatment. Leaving the woman with her ex-employer at the salon, the maid reached employer’s house in Mira Road. “Somehow, she entered the house and threatened the minor daughter of the salon owner with a knife and decamped with the mobile phone and gold ornaments worth more than Rs. 7 lakhs,” said the official.
After learning about the robbing, the woman approached Mira Road Police Station. “Immediately after receiving the complaint, a team of police personnel took action and with the help of a surveillance team found the current location of the accused through her mobile tracking. Our team raided at Kandivali and arrested her from there within 12 hours of the incidence,” said Prakash Kamble, Sub-Inspector, Mira Road Police Station.
While police recovered the entire stolen materials from her, they also learned that she is a habitual offender. The employer said she had sourced out her number from an online placement agency. A case has been registered at the Kanakia Police Station under sections 323, 327, 342 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code(IPC).
