In a horrific incident, two decomposed dead bodies were found in Shabari Resto-bar in Sheetal Nagar area of Mira Road on Thursday late night. The Thane Rural Police rushed to the spot soon after they were informed of the incident at 11 pm.
The dead bodies were discovered from the tank of a Shabari Resto-Bar which is located on MTNL Road. The dead bodies are now sent for postmortem.
On Thursday night, Gangadhar Shetty, owner of the hotel received a call from an unidentified person, stating about the murders in the restaurant. The owner then informed the Police. “Police found the bodies in the tank after the owner complained of a foul smell emanating in the restaurant around 10.30 PM. They have been identified as Naresh Pandit (42) as a cleaner while Haresh Shetty(48) working as a manager in the restaurant. The bodies also had stab wounds. The police have started investigating the case.” said Shantaram Walvi, SDPO Mira Road Division, Thane Rural Police.
“The resto-bar was shut due to lockdown since March but opened recently for take- away orders. However, staff stay here in the same building in a flat. ,” said Gangadhar Shetty.
Fire Brigade officials fished out the bodies from the 10,000-litre tank.
After seeing the body, it seems that murder took place some three to four days ago. We are tracing the mobile from which the owner received the call. We suspect Kallu Jadhav, who worked in the same hotel. He left for his home town on June 01. Mira Road Police have formed teams to trace and arrest him,” informed Walvi.
Staff and owner are being questioned. A case under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered in this regard.
