You might have seen bhaigiri on the street, but it goes extreme here in Mira Road. Naya Nagar Police has arrested a couple who were manhandling, abusing and threatening the police constable on the main road. A video of the couple has gone viral where the man can be seen threatening the traffic cop when his car was being put on a jammer for illegal parking.
The accused has been identified as Arun Ratan Singh(36). He was accompanied by his wife Meena Arun Singh (33), who was also seen arguing with the cop. They are the resident of the Ramdev Park area in Mira Road. The police said that Arun is a salesman while Meena works as a beautician.
“However, she was spared later with a warning as she is pregnant,” said the sources.
The incident took place on July 08, Thursday at around 2:30 PM in the Mira Road area where a person had put his car in a no-parking area, due to which the traffic police put a wheel clamp in the tire of his vehicle and looking to tow his car.
The accused can also be seen flouting Covid-19 norms by not wearing a mask. On the other hand, the traffic constable Krishna Balasaheb Dabade remained calmed and directed his workers to shoot the incident in his mobile camera. The man continues to misbehave with the policeman.
The man is seen as very angry over the cop’s action regarding the violation of traffic rules. Both the people can be seen shouting at the policeman saying, “Meri gaadi ko jammer kyu lagaya. Tu neeche utar, teri wardi nikal. Idhar hi marunga tujhe. Beech se cheer dunga tujhe.” (I’ll rip it from the middle…!”….”Take off the uniform and tell me again…!”
However, this bhaigiri cost a couple a lot and the accused has to spend several days in lock-up.
“They had come to Naya Nagar for shopping and when they saw that we were clamping their vehicle Hyundai i20 MH04GU5817, Arun Singh came charging at me. He even pushed me and after we started recording a video he stepped back and only abused me,” said Dabade, a traffic constable attached to Kashimira Traffic Department.
Later in a completely different avatar, the accused can be seen sitting on the floor apparently in a police lock-up with tears in his eyes. The viral video shows the man covering his eyes with both hands and ruing over the incident. Probably, after he faced the music for his action from the cops. Later, he apologized for his bhaigiri.
Booked under sections
Subsequently, a case under relevant sections 353, 504 and 506 (criminal intimidation) was registered and the two were placed under arrest.
Kailash Barve, Senior Police Inspector, Naya Nagar police station said, “The two were arrested by evening on Thursday. We produced the accused in court. Court has granted one-day police custody. On Saturday, we will reproduce the accused in the honourable court.”
“However, we are trying to ascertain whether they were booked in any other case earlier,” said Barve.
