Thousands of Constable and Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs) in the state have been hit by the Home Ministry’s planning policy from the Director General of Police in the pending promotion case. The promotion is due since 2013. However, the restless efforts of RTI activist Anil Galgali have been successful and 1061 Constables and ASI of police have been made Police Sub Inspectors (PSI) in the state following a circular from the office of the Director General of Police (DGP).
Be it a police constable or ASI who have passed the examination for the post of Police Sub Inspector, they were waiting for the promotion from the last 7 years. Anil Galgali, an RTI activist, met Additional Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte and gave him the details of the candidates. Mr Kunte moved quickly. “Finally, Home Minister Mr Anil Deshmukh signed the pending order in Home Minister office. The promotions were expected to take place last year. Unfortunately, a manual letter sending process to the Home Ministry has consumed the time. Nevertheless, the decision-making power was in the office of the Director General of Police. However, finally, HM has signed the long-pending file,” said Anil Galgali.
Following the recent decision, the candidates promoted to Police Sub Inspector thanks Anil Galgali for his support. However, Anil Galgali has clarified that the decision from the government has expected on the right time. “From this episode, the government should learn a lesson. It should issue clear instructions to all departments to take a decision immediately. This type of quick decision in a practical manner will run the lazy government department fast,” said Galgali.
