With 12 new COVID-19 cases in the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation jurisdiction, local positives of Coronavirus infection eclipsed the century mark on Tuesday.
The number of people who tested positive for the disease caused by the coronavirus in the twin city rose by 12 on Tuesday, bringing the Mira-Bhayandar’s total number of confirmed cases to 106 as the illness spread almost across all the areas.
Results of 86 positive cases had been obtained from private labs. While the rest 20 were received from government labs.
The 12 new positive cases include five males and seven females on Tuesday. One person is in his 20s from Ambedkar Nagar, while three people are in their 30s. There are three people in their 40s and four are in their 50s tested positives. While one female from MTNL Road, Sheetal Nagar is a senior citizen. Across the twin city, approximately 558 total swab tests have been administered at Government and Private Labs. Out of these, 19.3% of those have come back positive. This is a much higher average than the state or country average. 349 swab tests were negative while 84 cases results are still awaited.
The areas in Mira Bhayandar where the 12 positive cases were reported on Tuesday to include, Indralok Phase 6 and Shirdi Nagar in Bhayandar East. However, from Mira Road cases found in opposite Raj Estate (Kashimira), Shanti Park, two cases on MTNL Road; Naya Nagar, Pleasant Park and Shanti Nagar. While cases found in Ambedkar Nagar, Near Railway Phatak and Kharigaon fall in Bhayandar West.
All shops, including grocery and other essentials, remained completely shut following a spike in the number of positive cases. The complete shutdown will continue till mid-night of Thursday.
Sources of Corona cases in recent time
Significantly, an analysis of the positive cases made by the civic body has revealed that in a substantial number of cases, the infection had spread from a private hospital in the locality where some carriers were admitted before they tested positive for COVID-19.
Top sources in the MBMC added that the process of tracing the primary and secondary contacts of the patients are still going on. However, an audio clip has gone viral on Monday night in which Mayor Jyotsana Hasnale has been suggested to seal the hospital. She assured that she will talk to Commissioner about this. According to the highly placed sources, there might be 15 to 16 positive staffs are there in the hospitals. They should be quarantined.
