Three people of the same family have been found COVID-19 positive and two other family members report are still awaited from Kanungo Estate area of Mira Road. According to the sources, they are also reported to have been infected and showing the symptoms. Police have sealed the area on Sunday.
Confirming the report, IAS Mr. Chandrakant Dange, Commissioner MBMC said, “Unfortunately, reports are positive for three members of the family and patient report is still awaited. However, citizens should not panic. We are taking an utter precaution on this. People should stay at home.”
Three days ago, a 55-year-old man has been diagnosed with Corona Virus infection by the private diagnostic lab. His along with family members samples were sent to the Kasturba Hospital for the investigation. The patient has been suffering from cancer and diabetes for some time now. Due to pneumonia, he was admitted to a private hospital eight days ago. The COVID-19 examination of the patient was carried out by the hospital as the symptoms of corona virus seemed on this patient.
The patient was found to be positive in that report. This information was immediately shared with Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. As a result, the patient was immediately rushed to Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai and five members of his family were taken to Kasturba Hospital for examination. Among them, reports of the patient’s wife, son and daughter have come out positive. Due to other diseases, the patient and his one of the son’s reports are still awaited.
The administration is searching for the people whom this family come in contact in the last three weeks. The family has visited Pune 14 days ago to distribute wedding cards for daughter and son’s marriages.
“There is no travel history abroad of the family. They have distributed wedding invites to 100 families in Mira Bhayandar, Mumbai and Pune. He was reportedly in the house since the lockdown was announced. Work has begun to find out where the patient has travelled and distributed the cards. Voluntarily, they should come forward who received the marriage invite,” said Chandrakant Dange, Commissioner, MBMC.
Corona Virus Update
So far, 680 citizens have come from abroad in Mira Bhayandar, out of which 425 have been kept in isolation and 255 were released after completing 14 days observation. 377 citizens have been home quarantine. These people are being examined daily. Thirty-four are in Quarantine Cell at Bhayandar East whereas 11 are in Isolation Ward at Themba Hospital. Of the 31 swabs sent for testing, 16 are negative three are confirmed positive whereas MBMC is waiting for 11 patients swab reports.
