A 55-year-old COVID-19 patient from Naya Nagar, Mira Road breathed his last at a Nair Hospital on Friday, taking the coronavirus death toll to three in Mira Bhayandar.
In his official data release, Mira Bhayandar Municipal Commissioner Chandrakant Dange stated that the patient had been admitted to the Nair Hospital and his death was caused by coronavirus infection.
This is the third instance of a COVID-19 patient dying in Mira-Bhayandar. The deceased was a resident of Hyderi Chowk at Naya Nagar in Mira Road.
According to the sources, “The patient was an ambulance mechanic with the Kasturba Hospital, which might be the main source of his getting infected. He was admitted at BYL Nair Hospital on Wednesday and expired on Friday.”
On April 07, a 50-year-old male, Pooja Nagar resident, who had a travel history and came from Saudi, died at Hinduhriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Center Jogeshwari, a day before test reports confirmed that he was infected with coronavirus as well.
A 75-year-old woman from Nityanand Nagar, who suffered from multiple ailments, including Type-II diabetic and high blood pressure besides having tested positive for COVID 19 with viral pneumonia, died while undergoing treatment at Thane Civil Hospital on April 09. Her son, who was also a Coronavirus positive, is a driver with airlines. He to and fro passengers from airport to hotels and vice versa.
On Friday, one patient also defeated the coronavirus while the tally of recovered patients reached to 45.
With four new coronavirus infected, the number of COVID-19 patients tally reached 161 on Friday. While three positive patients died, there are 113 active cases in Mira-Bhayandar. All four positives newly discovered. The positive cases included a 13-year-old male from behind New Shahi Hotel, Mira-Bhayandar Road. Another person identified as a 55-year-old female from Koliwada area in Bhayandar (West). She is the staff nurse with one of the BMC Hospital. While the third person is a 21-year-old man from Indralok Phase -1 area of Bhayandar(East). He is also working as a ward boy with BYL Nair Hospital. The fourth positive died at Nair Hospital.
With 13 persons have been identified and quarantine on Friday. A total number of quarantined reached to 1581. However, there are still 1198 people under the observation of the administration. Out of total 1032 swabs sent for investigation, 161 are positive, 854 results are negative whereas 17 reports are still awaited. Three patients died due to COVID-19 and 45 patients are recovered in the area.
