With two new positive cases, Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) area has reported eight coronavirus infected people. With this, the local administration intensifying the quarantine process and declared the vicinity as a containment area and sealed it.
“We have sealed those particular societies wherever we identified positive cases,” said Chandrakant Dange, Commissioner,(MBMC).
“As the societies declared a containment area, we restrict people movement in those particular societies. We are arranging daily essentials for those affected societies,” said Dange
New Positive patients
While the intense search is on, these two positive cases from Bhayandar area have increased the worries of MBMC administration. Two females from the Bhayandar area found positive for COVID-19 on Saturday. A 56-year-old from female from S V Road, Bhayandar(East) and another senior citizen lady from Narayan Nagar area of Bhayandar(West) found to be positive. On Friday, one male at Navghar area was found corona infected while a 42-year-old man tested positive in Medhitya Nagar of Mira Road.
Earlier in Kanungo Estate, four out of five from the same family have been found COVID-19 positive on March 29. They don’t have any history of international travel. The infected person from Medhitya Nagar has travelled to Vasai, Taloja and Navi Mumbai for work in the recent past, while a person from Kanungo Estate had travelled to Pune to distribute wedding cards of his son and daughter. All seven members of Medhitya Nagar family are admitted in isolation wards and their samples have been sent to Kasturba hospital.
“So far, eight COVID-19 cases have been reported from Mira-Bhayandar. The societies are declared as a containment area of all the found positive cases,” said Mr Dange.
Corona Virus update from Mira-Bhayandar
As per records, a total of 795 people in MBMC jurisdiction with a travel history abroad had been under home quarantine out of which more than 303 have completed the 14 days, till Saturday. However, 419 people were still under home quarantine.
Furthermore, 45 are under observation at the quarantine cell in Bhayandar (east) and 28 people have been admitted to isolation wards(22 at Tembha Hospital, three at Kasturba Hospital, two patients at Kokilaben Hospital and one is at the Seven Hills Hospital). Out of the 69 swab samples sent, 34 turned out to be negative and eight positive cases are there. While 27 people test reports are still awaited. Tembha Hospital has been converted as 100 beds COVID-19 only hospital. Private hospitals such as Bhakti Vedanta and Wockhardt in Mira Road have isolation wards too.
