As Coronavirus positives tally soars to 82 on Sunday, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has order total lockdown. According to the order, all shops including groceries, milk, meat, fruit & vegetable markets have been ordered shut. Medical stores have been allowed to remain open as usual. Home delivery of essential services has been allowed between 9 AM to 5 PM by ordering through MBMC official app or on-call mobile numbers issued by the Corporation in PDF format.
MBMC has also stated that vehicles of essential service workers and goods will be allowed to move in and out of the area. Commissioner advised all people to remain indoors. MBMC has stated that anyone breaking the order will be punished under the Maharashtra COVID-19 Epidemic Act 2020. Currently, Mira-Bhayandar has reported 82 cases till date, with 2 deaths. On Sunday, 13 COVID-19 positives were found. Out of which, 12 were new while one is the close contact of the old positive patient. Luckily, all have been admitted to Pandit Bhimsen Joshi COVID-19 Hospital in Bhayandar West.
What will be closed
In an order issued by the Municipal Commissioner Chandrakant Dange, stated that all fish, mutton and chicken shops will be kept closed from Sunday-Monday mid-night to 23rd April mid-night. He also stated that Kirana, grocery shops, bakery, dairy including supermarket like D-Mart, Big Bazar, Star Bazar will also remain closed for the same period of time. In the same way, fruits and vegetable shops including special market set up by MBMC will also remain closed.
“However, groceries, vegetables, dairy and dairy products, bakery products will be allowed home delivery if orders through MBMC Home Delivery app or on calls from MBMC provided numbers which were circulated through social media in PDF format between 9 am to 5 pm,” said Commissioner Dange.
What will be opened
Medical Stores will remain open as usual in total lockdown also. However, maintaining social distancing is a must.
Thane district declared containment zone
Thane district in which Mira-Bhayandar falls declared as a containment zone on Sunday night. It means, all the restrictions in place under the ongoing lockdown will remain in force without any change. In his order, Thane Collector Rajesh Narvekar stated that consequent upon the increase in the number of COVID- 19 cases, the entire Thane district is being declared as a containment zone.
“The areas classified as the containment zone include the municipal corporation limits of Thane, Navi Mumbai. Mira Bhayandar, Kalyan Dombivili, Ulhasnagar, and Bhiwandi- Nizampur also declared as containment zone,” it stated.
Areas under the municipal councils of Ambernath, Kulgaon Badlapur will also be considered as containment zone. Nagar panchayat of Shahapur and Murbad will also fall under the containment zone.
